Entranceway Opening onto Living Room

Question:

My neighbor’s front door opens onto a small entrance-hall. At the end of this hall there is no door; the room simply opens onto a magnificent living room. He has a mezuzah on the front door, but there is no mezuzah on the right edge of the wall of the living room. Is that correct?

Answer:

Yes. Since there is no division between the entrance and the living room, the whole area is considered one large room. The outer door, then, is the door for the whole area, and is fully qualified for a mezuzah with a berachah.^[1]
